Wildlife Art by artist :- Beard, William Holbrook (1825 to 1900)

Beard, William Holbrook

American artist Willian Holbrook Beard was known more for his inventiveness than his artistic prowess. Although he began his career as a portrait painter his usually satirical paintings of animals were very popular at the time, and are still amongst the most widely reproduced animal fine art, although might not be regarded as genuine wildlife art because the animals depicted are depicted as more humanistic than animal.

"Dancing Bears", probably his most famous work, shows his typical (and popular) humanising treatment of animals. This work is one of the more popular wildlife artworks today (click the image to buy it).

Another of his most well-kown and popular paintings, depicting humanised bears. The charaters are beautifully depicted with humor and warmth. (click the image to buy it).
