Wildlife Art by artist :- Ibbetson , Julius Caesar.

Ibbetson , Julius Caesar.

Known more for forging the work of other artists than for anything original, this artist born in Yorkshire did however know the craft of oil painting very well, as he revealed when writing a book on the subject. Most of his paintings were small-scale landscapes and rural scenes, often of his native Yorkshire, although he did travel to Java and paint there. Below are two of his wildlife paintings.

"Rinoceros", an antique illustration of this strange creature, and a man climbing a coconut palm in the background showing the environment of this animal.

"Camel", a fine example of antique-style illustration, full of character and detail.
