Wildlife Art by artist :- Lear, Edward. (May 1812 - Jan 1888)

Lear, Edward.

Known more for his illustrations of limericks (his most famous being "the owl and the pussycat") than wildlife art, Edward Lear, and artist and writer born in London, also created many accomplished wildlife illustrations. His serious bird art was in fact where he started, publishing a book of parrot illustrations at age 19 (see two of the images below), which were well recieved. He continued to produce serious art work throughout his life.

"Blue and Yellow Maccaw", a fine illustration by Lear, of this beautiful bird, respendant in it's colorful yellow and blue plumage. (Click the image to buy it).

"Red and Yellow Maccaw", and excellent example of bird illustration. Full of character and personality, this is a fine illustration of this gorgeous and intelligent bird. (click the image to buy it).
